Rockaway Beach

This past weekend, some friends and I took a day trip to Rockaway Beach. (I joked with friends that I came all the way from Florida and still managed to find a beach.) I wasn’t sure what to expect, but what we discovered was pretty amazing. ImageThe sand was pretty clear with tons of seashells, and the weather was absolutely phenomenal. It reminded me of a Florida beach except without the humidity (massive bonus points). It was so peaceful and serene, I actually fell asleep on the beach for a few minutes!ImageBut the best part of the entire day was Rockaway Taco. By far. They had the best tacos, plantains, and plantain chips I’ve ever had! I’m seriously considering taking the hour-and-a-half train back there just to get them again. ImageAfter we had lunch, we decided to go into the water. The only objection I had was that the water was absolutely freezing. I’m not sure how cold it was exactly, but it felt like it was close to 40 degrees (but probably not). It took a while to get accustomed to the cold temperature, but it was also extremely refreshing and void of seaweed (double bonus!). ImageAll in all, I really enjoyed Rockaway Beach, and can definitely see myself going back there. Rockaway Taco will be a must, of course.
